Exercise 15 - Improvisation

Improvisation: A performed scene without rehearsal or preplanning of any kind. It is basically a contentless scene. Plot develops entirely out of what happens with you and the other actor/actors.

Why practice improvisation?

One problem in theater is that some scripts are predictable, actors must try to make it unpredictable and improv practice helps actors to bring out that unpredictable feeling.

Exercise 15 Improvisation (lOpts)

In pairs, create an improv scene/scenario on a sheet of paper answering the following questions:

1. Where are they?

2. Who are they?

3. What is their relationship?

4. What special features should they portray or what obstacles do they have?

I will assign another group your improv scene. They will have one minute to perform the scene (no more/no less.)
